Mara Ayay

Mara Ayay is a small hamlet in the Rhyte province of the Caluan Desert. The town's population is made up of mostly Caluan who worship the Siroccan Pantheon. With the harsh conditions of the hot savanna that surrounds it, the people of Mara Ayay are a hardy and resilient bunch, known for their resourcefulness and determination. The Sandcloak leader of this place, Hodbeald, is highly respected by the community.
Mara Ayay is unique for its stone walls that surround the town, providing protection from sandstorms and hostile animals that roam the desert. The walls are made of locally sourced stone and have been a part of the town's history for generations, a testament to the ingenuity and skill of the Caluan people. Inside the walls, there are narrow, winding streets that lead to small, earthen homes, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere that is both welcoming and protective. Parts of towns are coloured in vibrant dyes as the town hosts a large dye export. Large swaths of blues and reds cover entires neighbourhoods.
The people of Mara Ayay are self-sufficient, relying on their own ingenuity and resourcefulness to survive in the harsh desert environment. They are skilled hunters and traders, known for their unique wares, including beautifully crafted jewelry made from local gems and other natural resources. The town is also known for its annual festival, a celebration of the Siroccan Pantheon, where people come from far and wide to enjoy the festivities and exchange goods and stories.
