Gmeþon Highlands

Southern þárúlsic: Gmeþon /kmɛːθɔːn/
The Gmeþon Highlands1 cover a large portion of the southwestern part of Túlmikkía, bordering the Gnákan Savanna to the north and east, the Þem Desert to the southeast, Þefat Sea to the south and the temperate Jaþ Forest to the west.
The region is home to several different ethnic groups, including a mixture of Vevúni and Þárúlsans along with a few who are only distantly related to the lowland tribes, the most powerful of which are the Fúmdans to the west.

Geography

The region offers some of the most breathtaking views in all of Túlmikkía, including that of the highest mountains on that continent, Taþant Canyon to the west -the largest in Gætíus' World- and Amg Falls where the Dirif River enters the canyon. The Músma, one of Túlmikkía's main rivers, originates in the northern part of the highlands.
The mountains were formed by volcanic activity long ago, though only a handful of volcanoes there are still active, mostly to the east where it's not uncommon for poisonous fumes to suddenly emit from the ground.
The climate in the Gmeþon Highlands is noticeably cooler than in the surrounding region, particularly to the south where winters can be quite harsh, and snow covers most of the mountain peaks throughout the year.

Fauna & Flora

Pronghorns and antelopes are common in the mountains, along with mountain lions, jackals and gmeþonic wild dogs, the latter which are unique to the region and related to wild dogs found in on the southern Gnákan Savanna.
