Geography
Grasses and shrubs dominate the region, dotted with scattered trees except for the coast or near other sources of water. Three great rivers -Ap River, Jahó River and Kíva River- flow through Vakalgan, each forming a strip of land suitable for agriculture, and farthest between them are arid areas with little to no vegetation. The land generally becomes rockier further south, especially at the Deþren Mountain foothills.
Each year, the rivers flood, flushing out excess minerals from the soil and replacing it with silt deposits, and while the extend of these floods vary somewhat, they are predictable enough to make living by the rivers far easier than the Namazús River and Únrí River in Emlas, for example.

Fauna & Flora
Vagalkan is home to a diverse wildlife, such cheetahs, coyotes, turkeys, deer, antelopes, water buffaloes and crocodiles, along with several species of turtles, snakes and birds of prey. Many of these are hunted or -in case of water buffaloes and turkeys- been domesticated by the galkans.
Notable plants in the region (both wild and domesticated) include maize, legumes such as lentils, chickpeas and kidney beans, date palms, fig trees, sesame, sunflowers and yellow nutsedge.
