Silþa is a large city on the northeastern coast of Úrtal Sea and the main settlement of Tirkþa, the northern county () of Vakúlstó, eastern quarter (stó) of the empire of Dalra in eastern Emlas.
Many wealthy Dalrans visit the city at certain times of year, either to escape the cold winter in the Zamra Mountains or the exhausting heat in the desert capital of Kilí.

Demographics

Most of the inhabitants are native Húlpakrans and -to lesser extend- dalrans and Jorps.

Defences

The main fortifications in Silþa surrounds its acropolis, entered through the Gate of the Double Rainbow, a major landmark in the city whose entrance is lined with sheets of gold, silver, copper and tin, in the shape of stylized rainbows. In contrast, the rest of the city's fortifications consists of low stone walls and towers.

Infrastructure

A number of mansions owned by wealthy dalrans are found in or near Silþa, who retreat there to enjoy the more temperate climate when the weather becomes too cold or hot in other parts of the empire. Gardens, theaters, baths and an impressive market square all accommodate these visitors as well as natives.
The most notable landmark in Silþa is the Great Temple of Jóox, god of thunderstorms and patron deity of the city. While far smaller than the Great Temple in Temekral, its painted and gilded high reliefs adorning the walls and friezes are some of the most intricate ever made in húlpakran style, showing scenes, characters and creatures from mythology as well as the history of Silþa.

History

Silþa was originally founded as a colony by Pakrans from Laxilþía beyond the sea, providing them with olives, barley, fruits and timber, as well as providing homes for the growing population back home. The inhabitants, later known as húlpakrans, became quite wealthy by trading with the natives, adopting some of their customs and developed their own distinct culture, all of which the pakrans saw as signs of decadence and blasphemy.
The cultural differences had become so great by the time the dalrans appeared that the people of Silþa showed little resistance when the city was claimed by Dalra, and since then they've been quite content with their new overlords.
