Tojo
The Tojo cultivate a fierce reputation as mighty warriors, practising Seven Forms of combat said to have been inspired by the clans themselves. They are accomplished raiders, readily capable of taking whatever they need by force, though knowing not to discriminate in their attacks lest they inspire the other clans to momentarily unite against them. In truth, they are actually a number of bandit clans unified through the efforts of the clans founder, who struggle to adapt to a more peaceful life and remain aggressive to one another as much as outsiders.
They have a complex hierarchy based on their combat prowess and deeds, which are tracked with pictograms of ink on their skins. As such, the Tojo tend to be somewhat colourful, a raiding party likely to appear as a visual riot to those it attacks.
Yet there is a strange nobility to them if one looks beyond rumours. Those who say they kidnap children ignore that they actually take in orphans, and whispers of cannibalism arose from a misunderstanding of a practice of ingesting the blood of the fallen to honour their achievements and hopefully glean some of their talents. There is also great emphasis placed on family, with clan children being placed in warbands that function as extended family units. And for all their aggression, the Tojo are fiercely loyal and adhere to many strict codes of behaviour passed down from their founder, uniting them against the other clans.
Their longest running feud is with the Omi, with the entire Land of Reeds as their battleground.
