House Dunrad

House Dunrad was once amongst the greatest of houses second only to Stolbrand, but during the reign of Baron Calder, who's open embrace of the old ways and allowance of letting Ulhoir settle on his lands cost them dearly in prestige and trust with his fellow high born, and open trust saw house Dunrad exploited, to many he was a good man, but a terrible leader.   Dunrad now resides in and rules over the conquered southern lands, maintaining public order and doing what it can to remake the bombed lands into a strong addition to the region, but it is doing so they have disappointed many, for the war was not cheap, and little wealth flows from the south to the empty war chest of the north.     The Dunrad’s were once renowned for their traditionalism and stoicism, considered scholars & warriors by their subjects, the Dunrad’s were quick to embrace the new tools that their alliance showed them but resistant to the great cultural change that swept many of the southern houses. Now the Dunrad are known for the drastic schism that swept it, by Halvar’s rule he enforces his remaining family and bannermen in southern ways, new methods of war, and turning their stoicism into hard pragmatism.   The new heir Baron Halvar is by no means anymore popular but for very different reasons. Ill regarded by the court for his open embrace of southern ways especially that of the Korholmers, even amongst his family he is a controversial man, some seeing him as the man with the drive and will, necessary to restore their glory, others as the end of its a proud heritage.   Halvar is well known for his ambition to restore his house and his pragmatism. But when the young lord claimed the right to rule the conquered Norak territories at the price of his ancestor's lands, a move that shocked and appalled the court, but it was clear that Halvar had greater ambitions. Leaving many uncertain about the house's intentions.   Well known for the white and red heraldry of their garb, symbolizing the stag trail pure waters and red the virtue of the old. The Weapon shield is a white stag with red antlers, the mark of rulership, and the blood it must spill to preserve its people.
