Hundreds of thousands of years ago, the universe was but a cluster of energy. Over time, the energy somehow became increasingly condensed until it abruptly exploded outward into an ever-expanding plane of existence called the Prime Material. During this time, the largest groupings of energy formed into twelve all-powerful, divine beings. These twelve, listed above, felt an overwhelming desire to use their power. Although they did not yet have specific domains, they tasked themselves with creation and eventually formed a planet they called Mytkora. As they built, the gods and goddesses discovered and settled into their individual domains. Through cooperation, practice, and some mutual competitiveness, the twelve beings thrived in the world they made. Unfortunately, this cooperation did not come without conflict. The Calamity
As their powers developed, Yparxis stood out among the rest. With his fathomless strength, he began to create thousands of realms of existence. He filled them with all kinds of creatures, even leeching the power of other deities to create planes of existence centered around their domains. He began to grow so powerful that the other gods became fearful and jealous of his potential. In a decades-long battle, many of the other eleven deities turned against Yparxis. Even with all of their strength, Yparxis nearly defeated them. It wasn't until the gods and goddesses joined their divinity together and channeled it through Elsios that they were able to force Yparxis into submission and banish him permanently from the Prime Material.Following the defeat of Yparxis, Elsios crowned himself the Lord Above All and returned most, but not all, of the gods' and goddesses' divinity. This ensured that he would remain the most powerful deity on the Prime Material. His first act as king was to construct a separate plane of existence as a final show of force against Yparxis--one only the Eleven could go. Elsios called this realm Itherea, the Realm of the Divine.
Mortalkind's Creation
After some time, the Eleven's ambitions grew. Wanting to fill the world they had created, they worked together to create life. Kebis went to each of the god's domains and helped them to create the creatures that would serve under them. With Tassah, he created fish, crabs, and millions of other underwater creatures. With Idros came birds and bats among others. For thousands of years he worked, but he could never be satisfied with the simple beasts he made. Wishing for mortal creatures that reflected the Eleven's sentience, Kebis began to create humanoids. Elves came first, followed by Dwarves and then Humans. The rest of the races, both andromorphic and anthropomorphic, followed soon after by both Kebis' hands and others who wished for mortals in their images. The Silence
Time passed. The gods' creations flourished in their world even better than the Eleven imagined. Mortals worshiped their immortal creators, and the divines felt their powers grow stronger than ever. Over a thousand years of nearly uninterrupted prosperity resulted in great advancements of art and invention. All was good, and the gods were pleased with their work. Suddenly and inexplicably, however, the Eleven went silent. Worshipers stopped hearing their patrons' voices and had nothing to guide them from beyond. Chaos followed for many years, but the short lives and short memories of most mortals resulted in a mass exodus from the religious ways of the past. Now, nearly ninety years later, much of the world has moved on. Many of those who last heard the voices of the Eleven have died, and those that still live are no closer to understanding why their creators have stopped communication. Most have accepted that the gods have abandoned them, but there are some who still hold out hope that they will return.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
