Demon
Demons are the varied, sinister creatures formed and innately linked to the the Abyss. Each one is formed from the corrupted souls of mortals and immortals who have perished, some taking dozens or even hundreds of souls to craft. Such an act is never by chance - demons are crafted, their construction designed by the soulcrafters of the abyss.
The first demons were created by the demon primacies themselves, only moments after they sprang from slain Tazan, The Ravenous One. Since that time ages past, demons have ruled the Abyss and sought to conquer the planes of the multiverse for their masters.
Demonic Gods
Just as the definition for a god is vague, so too is it for the demonic gods - for each demon is crafted and designed with intent, a blueprint that could make more. But, despite this, there are some that exist as a solitary figure. Creatures so dark and terrible that their creation could never be duplicated, or those whose craft has been lost to time. These are the demonic gods, created by the demonic primacies. They act as the primacies' generals, advisors, and subjects, enacting their will in the Abyss and beyond.Basic Information
Anatomy
Demons come in a staggering variety of forms. Just as a craftsman might try new designs to see which fare in the market, new demons are regularly created and introduced into the vast armies of the Abyss. The most successful are used again and again, and sightings can date back to the Age of Giants.
Even within a particular species of demon, there are variations in appearance. This is a manifestation of both the souls used to craft them, as well as the skill of the soulcrafter and any 'artistic flair' they may have introduced. With proper research, one might even be able to identify demons made by the same crafter.
Devils
The difference between demons and devils is slight, if there is one at all. It is mostly a matter of reputation - both are created by soulcrafters in the Abyss. Instead, it is a case of being designed with different tasks in mind. Demons are designed for war, destruction, and wanton violence. To reap the souls needed to forge new armies, there must be death - and none are better than dealing it than demons. But loosing a pack of demons on a village is not simply a means to an end - death is what demons exist to do, and crave above all else to revel in screams and blood. Devils are made with more careful goals in mind. They act as the researchers, spies, and manipulators often unsuited for front-line combat. Whether it is a succubus manipulating a merchant into selling his soul for more gold, or a pit fiend planning war efforts, devils are what keep the infernal cogs of their war machine moving. Many have made the mistake of treating the eloquent devils as the 'lesser' of these two evils. After all, one can speak to and reason with a devil - bargains can be made. And though their plans might not include slaughtering every living creature on sight, they could very well lead to the death of your family, nation, or even species.Genetics and Reproduction
There are many different methods of creating a demon, all through through the complex dark magic known as soulcraft. Though the details and methodology of soulcraft is a closely guarded secret and forbidden knowledge, enough is known to establish several truths.
The first and most important layer of hell is the Soul Well. It is through this accursed plane that all departed souls must travel to enter the Abyss, and has been fought over since demons came into being.
The blueprints to create demons are closely guarded secrets, and some demons may only be found serving a particular master - the methods to create and command Balors is known only to Lumex.
It is possible to combine souls to form a single demon of even greater power, though it is a more difficult task.
As part of their creation, these souls are tied to the Abyss itself. Unless a demon is slain in the Abyss, they will reform unharmed where they were created.
Gods can be killed and used for soulcraft.
