Archpaladin Imperalis

The Archpaladin Imperalis is the most powerful individual within the Adeptus Justicari, however, like many of the other High Ecclesiarchs, while he has the highest authority and power in the church, his role is mostly bureaucratic and diplomatic. He is effectively the Grand Master of the church in Exelnar, but the different title serves to differentiate him from the other Grand Masters in the Empire. He wields a large military force in the form of the paladins under him, and large influence as his organisation supplies the soldiers to the rest of the Empire.

The Archpaladin Imperalis is also a member of the High Ecclesiarchs and therefore holds a seat in the High Council, the second highest source of authority in the Empire, under the The Emperor himself.

Qualifications

To become the Archpaladin one must be a Paladin serving in the Adeptus Justicari in Exelnar.

Requirements

Becoming the Archpaladin is the same as becoming the Grand Master in any other church. The sitting Archpaladin must have at all times a paper form saying who will be the next in line. This is from the time when the Archpaladin would ride into battle alongside the Emperor in the first years of the Empire. Generally, the oldest and most trustworthy paladins will be assigned as the Archpaladin, though it is up to each sitting Archpaladin to decide who it will be.

Appointment

The appointment is held in the Imperial Palace in Exelnar and is a large ceremony attended by many people of all walks of life.

Duties

The duties of the Archpaladin are mostly bureaucratic and diplomatic. He must manage the deals with all other parts of the Empire in terms of giving soldiers, as well as making sure the rate of recruitment is appropriate through the Empire. He must also go through all the reports from Grand Masters, though that part tends to get neglected for some holy orders, or buried beneath mountains of paperwork. Lastly he must meet and vote in the High Council, as well as deciding if any points raised by the Grand Masters need to be pushed up there or not.
