High Loremaster

The High Loremaster is the highest authority within the Custodis Pansophical and represents the will and power of Cognitiosis in the Empire. However, the High Loremaster is usually the most secluded of the High Ecclesiarchs, being content to abstain from most motions and ensure that he makes himself and the knowledge provided by the libraries absolutely essential to the operation of all other factions. While he himself and the Custodis might not wield as much military power, or favor with the people, restriction from accessing their knowledge and libraries would be crippling to any other faction, as most things necessary for them to operate are within these restricted areas in the back of the temples. Most knowledge from the Golden Age of Magic and the Calamity is stores there, with the exception of some hidden inquisitorial archives that may or may not exist, and the gentle balance of giving it out, but not enough to make it taken for granted, is the gentle game of politics played by the High Loremaster, and it is why even the eldest and most knowledgeable of loremasters from other temples cannot hold this position, as they are simply not well versed enough in the politics and power games played within the royal courts in Exelnar.

Qualifications

Before becoming a high Loremaster, one must first serve as a Loremaster in the Empire Capitol of Exelnar and go through all the ranks of advancement as prescribed in the Loremaster article.

Requirements

When the High Loremaster dies, the Eldest Loremaster serving in the Empire Capitol of Exelnar is chosen to become the next High Loremaster.

Appointment

The ceremony for the appointment, as with all other High Ecclesiarchs, is held in Exelnar, with the Emperor giving the High Lord his new title, as a very formal and public ceremony.

Duties

The duties of the high loremaster are spit between political duties to The High Council, and duties to the Custodis Pansophical. They need to vote and propose topics as all other members of the council, and to their church they need to adjudicate matters relating to policies they have, what is allowed and in what restriction of areas, which books or materials should be allowed in any library, which should be reserved only for specific ones, or which should be destroyed alltogether. The latter however is seldom done, as all knowledge can be very useful if presented to the right people for the right price, which will almost never be monetary.
