The Red Fang
The Red Fang is one of the most successful mercenary companies to ever fight in Nostvary. They aren't the biggest, the Golden Boys have that honour, nor are they the smallest but they are the one most requested for any ruler in the know is aware of their reputation.
One of the many mercenary companies that roam Nostvary.
The History of the Red Fang
Structure
The company is currently split into three fangs. Two are in the employ of the king of Arshen while the third is in Dragsmund acting as bodyguards for that city's young king. The Dragsmund detachment keeps a table at The Raining Blood Inn open as a recruiting station. Any interested in joining them can take a seat and drink for free but timewasters best beware for the soldiers of the fang are a tough lot and quick to break a nose.
It is common practice among mercenary companies to keep a section stationed outside of the conflict. The official reason for this is recruitment and for them to act as a reserve group, enabling the swapping out of critically wounded individuals but the unofficial reason is that in case of a catastrophic loss on the battlefield there will be someone left to carry the banner. Every new member swears loyalty to the banner promising to carry it if all others have fallen and to do whatever they can to rebuild.

Assets
Mercenaries will fight for gold, silver, copper, and when they are hungry for food. Some will fight for the joy of war and because it is all they've ever known.
There are many poor mercenaries but few destitute companies because it is the nature of soldiers to die and when they do their weapons, armour, and money flow back into the coffers. Through this process, some outfits have grown so wealthy that they can act as moneylenders. It used to be a rare occurrence but more than a few kings have paid their mercenaries with money borrowed from the same company, promising land or concessions if they fail to repay their debt. An unscrupulous captain could use this as a reason to draw out a fight, bleeding their employer more than the enemy.
The Red Fang are somewhere in the middle. They have enough money deposited in different cities to see all their members comfortably retired but are too focused on the fighting to play bankers.
