Red Fang Chapter 13
The company of The Red Fang assembled just before dawn, kitted out for the road, and stamping their feet as they waited in the cold outside the inn. Toli’s crew were already up, having spent the night in the common room unwilling to retire to their beds. A few yawned as they stood chatting with those that were going.
“Toli?” Samuel entered the silent room and found Toli asleep in a chair beside the captain’s bed, his head on his chest and a hand touching the straw mattress. Samuel approached and laid his hand softly on the captain’s barrel-like chest, feeling for the heartbeat.
