The inhabitants of Padril are rumoured to be descendants of the giants that once roamed the region. While the hills no longer ring out with the sound of their horns, the tall Padrilians are still there.
Boris grew up working in one of the many mines that fill the valleys with heaps of spoil. For the first few decades, he followed his ancestors in hauling coal from deep underground, but when rebellion broke out, he was forced to take up arms. Armed uprising was a way of life in Padril with barely a year passing without some disturbance. Few in The Sondaran Empire are aware of the harsh conditions in Padril and believe the government is right in suppressing the rioters.
When the legion arrived, Boris did his part in the fighting but when all was lost he fled rather than become a slave. Turning his back on the empire, he travelled across the desert to the Chanet's Unseen Rivers where he lived underground for a year among the cave dwelling fisherfolk. From there, he travelled to Talidar and joined one of the many mercenary companies employed by the princes. It was there he found The Red Fang and his true home.
