House Ironcrest

Alderman of The Whalings in Kriegerholm and amongst the city's five great houses, the Ironcrests come from a long line of warriors and knights with a strong military hertiage. Coming from a homestead along the Lokistrom, the Ironcrests were invited to Kriegerholm after the city was sacked by Sigrun III, Ivar the Older Thornstrom, and House Winter-Shield during the Kriegerholm Revolt in 937 to take charge of the decimated Whalings district and put down local crime and raiders.   Noted for their military history and prominence as raiders and horse riders, the Ironcrests have become mainstays of Kriegerholm. Forming a strong relationship with House Warpelt, the family have also married into House Saltsby, cementing their political legacy for at least a generation.

Culture

Despite being in charge of an artesanal and crafting district the Ironcrests have a long military history preadating their establishment as a major house. The cavalry tradition and horsebreeding remains in the family with a large stables and riding ground found within their keep of Blakguard within the market quarter of The Whalings in Kriegerholm.

History

Originating as a minor family in a homestead along the Lokistrom between Knut's Landing and Odinsthrone, the Ironcrest house name goes back to the early third interregnum as the family became famed horse riders and knights that dealt with Skallen Syndicate cells and general brigandry and invasions between the various houses. Yorstaff Ironcrest would earn his name in putting down a raid by a minor Drekenheim house on the southern hold in the 813, with his dull grey armour giving his house its namesake.   The Ironcrests remained a minor house with a reputation as strong raiders, mercenaries, and warriors. Defacto under the control of Kriegerholm until the Southern Hold was reorganized by the Sigrun III, the Ironcrests were invited into the city after the noble house of Whalerider was wiped out in the Krigerholm Revolt of 937. When the 40 Year War led to the invasion of The Commonwealth and the involvement of the Eighth Kingdom of Aedrinar, the Ironcrests thought under the banner of Haarold Iceaxe in Tumbria and suffered heavy losses.   Raffa Ironcrest would marry into house saltsby and have two children, Yasha and Balli. Her brother, Torstan, grew tired of the Saltsby rulership under Thane Blann and instead moved the hosue closer to allying with House Warpelt despite his sister's attempts to negotiate. Torstan and Raffa were present when Thane Blann's angering of the Wolf Clan was revealed. Torstan supported Arngier Warpelt in killing Blann.   During the moot, the Ironcrests originally supproted Arngier until the Warpelt patriarch was convinced to back his son insted. Arngier then talked Torsatan into following his lead, so the Ironcrests supported the younger Gier Warpelt instead.
