Unresting Fields
Where the western foothills of the mountains at the Spine of the World give way to a ever shifting and inhospitable sea of sand, rock, and danger known as the Unresting Fields. The region shares an unclear southeastern border with the region of mountains known as the Highland Marches. While the Fields are considered to lie entirely within territory claimed by Himse and the Marches are politically contested, with no exact border being identifiable, conflicts from the Marches spill over into what is nominally Hismean territory.
The Himsean Wastes
Within Himse's borders, the Unresting Fields falls entirely under the province of Enesya, widely considered to be the least desirable posting in the entire Republic. The region, by area the second largest province in Himse, is home to one and only one settlement, the southern fortress city of Eriheiral. The rest of the territory is a empty expanse of nomad caravans, lost ruins, and vicious raiders, with the Provincial Administrator having little to no power outside of Eriheiral's walls.Geography
The area between the western edge of the Spine mountains and Lake Mythsmel receives little to no rainfall the entire year, resulting in a long strip of land where few plants grow and windblown sand buries and unburies the bones of monsters and settlements alike.
Fauna & Flora
Those that live in this harsh region, both mortal and monstrous, have adapted to life on the sands. Most groups are nomadic and many are made up of bandits, raiders, and other criminals. Tales of the area speak of great beasts that move through sand as if it were water, great hordes of undead sealed in forgotten tombs, and even dragons.
Natural Resources
Having little to no available resources, the main value of the region is widely considered to be little more than its color on a map. Adventurers may find the region more interesting as its many ruins and rare beasts hold the promise of wealth, though more often then not expeditions into the region never return.
History
Ruins and elven histories from the Age of Myth indicate this region was once the edge of territory of the Regalri, and even speak of wars being fought and great magical powers being lost. Variances in translation of these ancient tales lead some to believe the area was once a lush paradise.
