Vastelian Empire

Embers of an Empire

The Vastelian Empire is what's left of the Tyrant Queen Leona 's Sziks Empire. Once the greatest military might on the continent is now a political hellscape of maintaining relations and fighting wars. The Vastelians have the most neighbouring borders of all countries of Skålnir with a total count of 7, these borders have been scarcely maintained through the post-wartime of the Royal Cleansing with some finally settled and others still in the competition.

The Northern War front

Most skirmishes around Skålnir centre around bandits, revolutionists, cults or small militia forces, however, the largest war is between The Vastelian Empire and Kingdom of Midgering. Its a war for resources and for land, a desperate attempt for both nations to reclaim what they feel they lost when Cherin was implemented as a politically safe nation. The War has brought a large amount of political play into the courts of both Midgering and Vastelia as both seek to gain assistance and inflict sanctions on the opposing side. The war has been ongoing for 20 years now, with militaries only more recently becoming more prominent in the claiming of territory as a product of a lack of faith in negotiations.

The Impact on Vastelia

The war has led to strong allegiances with The Kingdom of Anzia with Anzia being the lead supporter of Vastelias war efforts. As well as this, The The Mordamatorian Theocracy has also aligned themself with the Vastelian Empire, however, they only promote the war against the spreading of the Pantheon of Nightbreak further into Telmia. They wish to prevent an unbalance of the The Solar Pantheons and so are fighting to equal out the coverage of the Pantheon of Dawn
Barcilacia is a peaceful country, however, tensions have always been high toward them since their creation from a traitorous military general decided to declare his faction independent from the Sziks Empire. Regardless of this general's house being almost whipped out, and a successful coup from the Fairy population, Vastelia and Anzia do not truly recognise Barciliacia as a country, but more as a younger sibling who will one day return home. The war has led to an increase in revolts around and in the local towns of Barcilacia, however, the true nature of the cause behind these conflicts is unknown.    The Kingdom of Earania looks upon the war disapprovingly and provides no assistance toward Vastelia. Similarly Cartitia's ruling family is also condescending of the war and has put sanctions against both Vastelia and Midgering, though these sanctions are not heavily enforced due to the influence of the Merchants guild who organise and head a sizeable amount of Cartitia's trade opportunities.

The City of Stone

Built like an indestructible fort once at the forefront of wars of old now finds itself the capital of Vastelia, Imoncezovar. Imon is known as the City of Stone as it was constructed by a combination of the greatest stonemasonry minds of thousands of years old. It is one of the oldest standing cities, with the primary structure being classed as one of the first great feats of ancient societies. legends have been foretold through generations of Imon, legends of spirits that hold architectural secrets long forgotten and ghouls who trick blacksmiths into turning their souls to steel. Because of these stories, the capital is a bustling town of trades focused on creating. There is a large dwarvish population that dwells in Imon all looking to out-craft each other, blacksmiths burn every hour of the sun and moons and aggressive merchants try to prove their product better till the late hours of the night.
Within the City of Stone sits the Vasteli Council, the group of oligarchs that run the empire. There exists 8 seats on the council, one for each region of Vastelia with an additional Head seat representing the City of Stone. Between this council all decisions are made in the country, it runs on a majority vote system with the head chair gaining two votes.
