Long ago, during the
Third Age, Kingdoms, the people of the western
Old World were stranded on islands (
Great Islands) as their world shattered into pieces after the
Second Age, Godswar. Left behind by the gods, they did everything to survive, thus with the meager technology they had, they waged war among themselves. Seeking help, they started to worship their ancestors and many
Idols but then, to some, a new god appeared, the
Dread Baron, who told them about the
Great Loa Island and told them to gather all of those that live on the islands to come. Reluctant, only a minority appeared and were astonished to see their ancestors here. Their friends and family that died. They spoke to them and were able to convince them to stop the wars. After many years, more Islanders would come to this island and meet, in an annual ritual, their deceased folk. Over time, they started to change, their souls were connected with the
Loa as more of these gods would show up.
The Islander Humans are deeply connected to death. They do not fear it as they know that they will meet their loved ones sooner or later. This attitude brought them more trouble than they realize as they are willing to make dangerous decisions. However, at the same time, this was seen as positive by some, because they would fight to the death without hesitation. Many of the Islanders prefer living on islands, archipelagos, coasts, sometimes even on boats, as they are keen on and in the water and are thought to swim from a very young age.
On Tethys
The Islander Humans had many beautiful kingdoms, mighty countries long ago. Over the millennia, they lost them due to enemies or natural disasters. Most of them reside in various ports around the world as they intermingle with those populations. The biggest concentration of Islanders is on the
Great Loa Island, where many of the Islander nations keep the island safe from intruders and enemies. For them, fighting against each other is futile and will only angry their deceased family, friends, and ancestors. Thus rarely they go to war with each other but that doesn't mean all of them are friends or allies.
First World
There were no Islander Humans in the
First World.
