Orcs are a race of humanoids that had been a threat to the civilized cultures of Tethys for as long as any could remember. Orcs vary in appearance, based on region and subrace, but all share certain physical qualities. Orcs of all kinds usually have grayish or greenish skin, coarse hair, stooped postures, low foreheads, large muscular bodies, and porcine faces that feature lower canines that resembled boar tusks. Many also have wolf-like ears that were pointed on the ends, similar to elves. Orcs are roughly the same size as humans and other similar humanoids, though usually robust and muscular.
Their race was created in the
First Age, The Titan War by the
Titan The Leader/Warrior. It is unknown which aspect or face of the Titan created the orcs, many speculate it to be the Warrior but others point to the legends and say that both of them did so but only one subrace survived the millennia. Bred to become the greatest and toughest warriors, an ideal force against theĀ
First Gods. However, they were a conflicted race, and duels for leadership wrecked their forces. Duels turned into sudden fights, those turned into battles and later into massacres. Some historians speculate that the Leader's creations were destroyed during this moment as they were more sophisticated of the race and only the savage ones of the Warrior survived. The race would continue its monstrous existence into the
Second Age, Godswar and beyond, being one of the best fodder the warring sides could use to their advantage (directly or not). While there were many wars and conflicts with the orcs noted in history, the most obvious one is their god -
Crommash, who achieved godhood by sheer strength and determination. Not only becoming a
True God but a Greater Deity. There are speculations that the wiser and more intelligent orcs survived the conflict and went into hiding, to the
Undertethys and call themselves the Grey Orcs.
On Tethys
Orcs can be found almost everywhere, like a plague but mostly in more savage lands, mountains, far from civilization. They do not shy away from cities, just see them as pointless. Some more intelligent members might become adventurers but rarely they are treated like other races and most of the time an orc would be killed entering a village. There is a clan of orcs that became known worldwide, that took over dwarven fortresses in
Venland and became mercenaries for hire, the nation of
Gorim Ashtol.
First World
The Orcs were as numerous in the
First World as on Tethys. They were mortal enemies of the Halfings. The race was created by the Giants, by mixing the human blood to find loyal and ideal warriors, only for those same creations to attack their creators.
