Divine Court

The Divine Court is the legal side of The Capital Isle's pantheon. When ever matters of Divine Law need to be assessed of produced, the court assembles and votes.

Structure

The Divine Court is comprised of the entirety of the Pantheon of the Capital Isle. Though Tyr leads delegations, decisions are made by a vote. All Gods vote on the issue and the majority wins. In the rare case of a tie, Tyr makes the desiding vote.

History

The first law the court passed was The Right Of Champion, which limited the number of mortals a deity could empower with their favour. From there they mainly settled small disputes between contending Gods. That was until they voted to remove Cyric as the God of Death. This was incredibly controversial amongst the court as it highlighted the inequality in the voting system. As there are more good Gods than evil, the result of many cases swayed in their favour. The next major event was the founding of The Godfall Paradox, an almost unanimous vote that resulted in a law that allows Divine beings to harm one another. After that was the passing of The Bystander Principle , a law that limited the amount of interaction Divine beings could have on the general populous, though this limited evil gods' ability to manipulate mortals, it also made it harder for good gods to spread their message to non-believers.   The most recent major case in the divine court was the Banishment of Cyric. The Court decided that Cyric was to dangerous and voted to remove him of his powers as a God and banish him from Mount Celestia. The vote barely passed and Cyric was stripped of his power. This remains the most controversial decision the court has ever made, with many gods calling the act unforgivable.

Divine Origins

After the Pantheon was formed from Cyric and Lathander, Tyr was appointed to be the overseer of the Divine Court. From there they set out the fundemental Laws that all deities must abide by.
