Holy Sentinel
The Eyes of the Alarch
Holy Sentinels are special rank within Ione and the Order of Fortunism that few know about. They act as the eyes of the Alarch and provide surveillence on the border and locate newly marked iniates.
Qualifications
All holders of Ionean government positions or roles within the Order of Fortunism are required to pass the Trials of the Fortunate before assuming any official positions.
Requirements
An individual must possess a Mark of Fortune to hold any level of office within the Ionean government as the Mark of Fortune is required to take place in the Trials of the Fortunate.
Additionally, an individual must possess reasonably powerful magical abilities to be considered for the rank of Holy Sentinel.
Appointment
Once the baseline rank of Acolyte is attained from successfully passing the Trials, ascending up the ranks can only be done through Cionecic's Divine Selection. Despite the specialization of the Holy Sentinel, the process is the same.
Responsibilities
Holy Sentinels have a very specific set of responsbilities compared to many of the other ranks within Fortunism and Ione. They are the eyes of the Alarch and spend most of their time using their magical abilities to scout the borders of Ione for any signs of aggression.
Additionally during the first week of the Ionean year the Holy Sentinels are assigned to locate the newly marked Initiates through the use of Cionecic's Attuned Scrying Pool so they can be collected to begin their training at the Grand Cathedral. The average Ionean is unaware of how Initiates are located.
Benefits
The Holy Sentinels are provided a reserved space within one of the spires of the Grand Cathedral that works as their housing. They are provided for in a similar fashion to the Alarch, though with everything they require close by, they also rarely leave the Cathedral and are almost never seen outside of Fortuna's Temple District.
Accoutrements & Equipment
Holy Sentinels are provided a steady stream of magical components are required. In addition the Attuned Scrying Pool is said to be a pool of Cionecic's tears that is located in the tallest tower of the Grand Cathedral where the Holy Sentinals of Ione reside. It is used by the Holy Sentinels to locate the newly marked initiates the week prior to the celebrations and introduction to their training.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
The rank of Holy Sentinel cannot be removed from an individual, though they may opt to retire to the ceremonial rank of Elder, with some additional privileges.
