Waterfront Military Base

A heavily fortified Military complex constructed in the abandoned Waterfront after much of the area was abandoned following an attack by Sinister Maharana and later purchased by Avath, the base sits on a rocky peninsula within the harbor, surrounded by water on three sides and high fortified concrete walls and barricades bristling with defensive emplacements and guard towers. The only land access through a multi layered security gate of two foot thick blast doors.   The base itself has a number of facilities for the operation of both the Ukranian forces and the Red legion ranging from Armories, Barracks, Vehicle Depots, Communication Centers, an Airfield and a large dock complex constructed specifically for the purposes of housing and maintaining the two Large AI battleships Bismarck and Tirpitz. The base also has it's own isolated power grid and power plant     -------------------------------------------------------------------------     Main Section   Headquarters:   Currently the main base of operations for the entire NATO operation on the Arch. Originally an old, decrepit port authority building, it has since been rebuilt and renovated into a building meant for the OPFOR center and where most of the strategic and logistical operations are cooked up from. Here you can find the highest ranking officers present, ranging from foreign militaries that have volunteered to assist in the mission, or the head of the task force herself, Nata. While technically only a Major, her word is absolute, and her standing as commander of the Ukrainian forces earn her a nice office desk here. The building has a small comm array on top of it, allowing it faster communication with the comms array the force has built.   Armory:   Every army needs guns and ammo, and this old freighter warehouse complex suits the purpose just right. The space that was left over and the empty shipping crates gave the arriving Ukrainians plenty of options to handle the logistics of their supply concerns. Here you may find the extensive weapon depot and ammo dump that the base has been supplied, as well as a special zone for the more experimental weapons supplied to them by other sources, especially any tech not normally seen on Earth. While a treasure trove to anyone looking for military supplies, it’s position, slightly offset from the center of the entire waterfront, makes it a risky target for any would be raider.   General Barracks:   The force on the Arch is not by any means a huge army, but it is not insignificant to where a few run down buildings can house the soldiers. The general barracks is a building constructed from some spare material and concrete for the majority of the soldiers that are residing in the area. It is a rather simple building, sporting only a few windows and going for more space than it is style. Here, enlisted and NCOs can be found relaxing or sleeping for their next shift, making it one of the more busy areas.   Officers Quarters:   Renovated from destroyed houses along the coast, the officer's quarters aren’t luxury. In any regard, they are simply rebuilt houses that keep in heat and keep out the cold. But the amenities in houses are still operational, and these housing complexes house higher ranking officers. Here, you will find the people that call the shots around the base, establishing new routes, and other general officer business.   Canteen:   The more social spot in the base, the canteen is where the troops come to eat. With building materials rather sparse, it was decided that the only interior part of this area is where the kitchens are, allowing some chefs to create food for the soldiers who line up outside to get some food for the day. More of a picnic area than anything else, plenty of tables and benches line the area for soldiers to have a break from their duties and have some food and socialize.   Communication Array and Power Substation:   The heart of all digital communication and hub for the radio network used by the entire task force, the communication center is an old waterfront radio building that has had it’s broadcasting tower built higher and connected with a stronger signal to communicate with NATO if needed. It’s broadcasting power is very strong, and can be broadcast on most stations on the FM and AM frequency, while also having its more commonly used military encrypted frequency. It has a large substation built next to it in order to keep it powered in case of electrical troubles, and many mobile, manual diesel generators in case the electrical grid goes down.   Vehicle Depot:   The Ukrainians did not come unprepared, and the base has a depot for the land vehicles that have been granted to them by NATO for use in the field. One of the many freight warehouses have also been repurposed into a vehicle depot for the repair and upkeep of these vehicles, as well as managing the supplies necessary for them to be run properly. Among the many vehicles that have been commandeered by the forces, the main vehicles include:   (4x) BTR-70DI Armored Personnel Carriers (15x) Military-purpose KrAZ Armed Carriers (1x) T-84 Main Battle Tank (1x) Mobile Command Vehicle   Shooting Range:   Keeping a soldier’s aim accurate requires a lot of practice, so with this in mind, a large portion of the beachside was built into a shooting range. Along the sands of the beach lie plenty of used cartridges and bullets, along with various shelves and dummies to use for targets along signs that display the distance from the rather slipshod boxes where the soldiers shoot from. It is loud, and being one of the furthest buildings from the main section, it is used constantly for training and practice. Its purpose for not being further out is to prevent the border troops from getting distracted or having the noise travel into the city too much.       Outer Section:   Partial Airfield:   Along one of the beaches, a manmade elevated runway has been constructed, held together by some tarmac and mostly component rubber. It is not large enough to land most types of planes, the sole exception being carrier aircraft and VTOLs. It is not suitable for launching planes, and can only operate as a landing base for carrier craft, although VTOLs are exceptions to this implication. Along the field are helipads, which are the most common vehicle that can be found here. Currently, the Ukrainian force are the sole providers to this air force, only holding two transport helicopters and a single Mi-28 attack craft. A small boardwalk has been repurposed into an air control station. Because of the relatively small number of aircraft in use by the Ukranians the Airfield is also used y the 5th Red Legion forces as a landing and loading zone for dropships and gunships operating out of the base.   Harbor:   Because of the nature of the location of the military base, this area is currently the most well kept and operational part of the base. It is a fully functional civilian harbor and marina, but most civilian boats have been sunk or scrapped. Currently, however, it is able to moor two battleships, a specification that has baffled most people that read the reports made by the task force. The reason for why they continue to make this specific example is constantly questioned, but the answer is always incredibly cryptic and vague, implying that the force intends or struggles to explain why. It currently houses whatever port authority boats could be repaired, allowing the task force to patrol the waters that have been since labeled restricted by them. The nearby harbor control building has been renovated and repaired to allow for monitoring of the naval happenings around the facility. The reason for the inculsion of Battleship moorings is that the harbor is also the base for the AI Nanomaterial Battleships that refer to themselves as Tirpitz and Bismarck.   Red Legion Complex:   On the opposite side of the Airfield from the main base sits the primary Headquarters for all Red Legion Forces currently in the Arch. It is a large heavily fortified structure vaguely resembling a high tech step pyramid, with heavily fortified walls and multiple gun emplacements and weapons batteries. The Compelx is a fortress within a fortress so to speak, and inside features a large number of command and control rooms as well as a barracks and armory, two ramps leading down into the ground and blocked by massive six foot thick armored blast doors lead to the underground facilities beneath it where the bulk of the Legion's Armored forces are kept and maintained.   Border Buildings:   The military complex is currently restricted to the general public, however, the borders are not entirely walled off. The struggle to find resources in order to completely wall off the entire area has been declared too expensive and complex a task, and thusly, it has been decided that a complex line of buildings and checkpoints would suffice. Currently, there is a line of barbed wire, vehicle barriers, and makeshift walls that connect the long line of checkpoint buildings and forward observation posts. While not the most walled off and secure solution, many people would find it difficult to penetrate this line of defences, let alone avoid being spotted by observers that spend day and night watching the known weak spots in the perimeter.
