Church of The Void

The Church building sits near the center of Legacy on a small, elevated rise in the land with relatively sheer cliffsides. Most of the building is constructed from simple wood and stone with a basic sloped shingle-covered roof. The presence of some decorative stone carvings and wood filigree and embellishments refelct the building's importance. The central portion of the building appears noticeably older, having ben expanded upon over time with the newer expansions lacking the embellishments of the original building. The entrance to the building is marked by a set of wooden doors with a six-pronged, warped star carved in the center.
Inside, the central building is composed of a large nave. Stone and wooden pillars support the arched ceiling. A 6-pronged, warped star has been carefully etched into the floor. Near the engraving is a single, prominent statue carved of black stone (perhaps obsidian). It depicts the vague form of a woman with flowing hair. One hand resting over her heart while the other is outstretched downward as if offering a hand to those beneath her. Around the statue's neck, three necklaces have been draped: a silver moon pendant, a golden clover pendant, and a Shard of The Void. Besides the statue, the nave is oddly devoid of any other religious artifacts or decoration, save for some scrolls, tomes, and texts tucked neatly into bookshelves along the back wall.
The newer additions to the building containing a variety of features, including:
  1. A chapel to the Dremoran Pantheon, which features individual alcoves for each of the 12 gods and goddesses.
  2. A slightly smaller chapel dedicated to the Order of Blood.
  3. Various amenities for members of the Cult of The Void (e.g., bedrooms, offices, baths, kitchen, etc.)
  4. A few training halls are reserved for Shard Heirs.

The Church's Role in Legacy

Members of the Cult of The Void that possess a Shard can sacrifice a bit of their own life essence and physical bodies to channel the destructive power of The Void, allowing them to "eat" the miasma. When not within the main Church building, Shard Bearers (and their Shard Heirs) are often found patrolling the edges of Legacy or urgently moving to areas where Miasma Warding Devices (MWDs) have failed.
