Raid on Pirate Island: RPG Session 18

General Summary

"He died of nostaliga for Myspace."   ~people just say everything these days, huh.
 

Dramatis Personae

Heroes of the Story:

  • Gúrda Thérun, a Frost Dwarf druid from the wild North;
  • Geort Adanar, a human paladin and a rough and tumble sort;
  • Melé Alkabahar, a human avenger, seeking glory in battle against evil; and
  • Daz Dromégar, a human bard, fresh off the defeat of local bandits.
  • At Losgate:

  • Captain Ribi Dérantu of the Gull's Reach, an Imperial Navy vessel; and
  • Plakar Niranes, the Head Magistrate of Schinter Province.
  • Nilar Déroda, the owner of The Siren's Call inn by the harbour.
  • What Happened

    The group arrived at the main harbour of Losgate, and finding accommodation at the Siren's Call, a local inn heavily frequented by the local Navy crews. They got not only rooms and some warm food, but a little more information about the dirty canal water of the city. The blame for the canal's current condition lied with the city's local population of drakelings, who were tasked with cleaning the algae and were strangely lax in their task as of late. After collecting this information from a couple of locals, the party went to bed.   The following morning, the group went with Captain Ribi to the Sea Fort to meet with Plakar Niranes, the Head Magistrate for the province. A stingy and all-around nasty character, Plakar eventually gave them permission to travel the lake with Ribi and his crew for a small sum from the treasury of the province. After making a quick stop at the docks, they climbed aboard the Gull's Reach and began to sail toward the supposed location of the pirate base.   On the way there, a couple of other ships came out of the fog that had clustered in the Losgate harbour. They turned out to be a pair of merchant vessels fleeing a group of pirate vessels. The Gull's Reach got into combat with the vessels, and with the party's help, dispatched one of them and began to lay into another. The party, trying to get to the island that they saw in the distance, decided to leave Ribi and the Gull's Reach to deal with them and, through the use of a Water Walk ritual, travelled to the island.   The island turned out to indeed be the base of the Wildmen, with the party accidentally setting off the alarm. After a quick skirmish with the defenders of one of the pirate's watchtowers, they fled into the forested areas to escape detection. The Wildmen put a watch on the forest, and an attempt to follow the beach and get to the other side of the island was caught and they gave battle with the tattooed berserkers - elite warriors under the leadership of Wildemar the Widowmaker. The group quickly caught their breath and began to run to the other side of the island...
