The Imperial Army

"So slew Farder his father,
The traitor to the Empire.
For the penalty of desertion,
No matter what the reason,
Will always be death."   ~Ribent Zalrei, The Glory of the Empire

"Hark! The doom comes,
Brought by our hand!
Never faltering,
Never hiding,
Unto the end!"   ~Gratic battle cry

Structure

The head of the Imperial Army is the General of the Imperial Army, who has a seat on the imperial council. He organizes the military actions that The Gratic Empire will make in a given year. He then delivers these orders to the various Captains and Lieutenants of the army, who then put those plans into action for the various men that make up the army. Technically, the General can call on the mages of The College of Mages for aid as well, but they have a right to refuse and often do so.

Public Agenda

  • The upholding of civic order and peace, as the army is also the guards of various towns and holds.
  • The promotion and spread of the glory of the Empire.
  • The perfection of military organization in pursuit of the first two goals.
  • Assets

The Army is very wealthy, with the General being the equivalent of a mayor as far as wealth goes and his Captains and Lieutenants being basically unlanded nobility. They also have a guardhouse in all towns and a variety of fortresses and towers in mountain passes and areas where insurrection is likely.

    History

The Imperial Army first gained its current structure in the wake of the Red Rose War, but the organization has existed since the early days of the Empire.
