10/7/213 - Report of Herris Jensen

General Summary

[Written report of Herris Jensen as dictated to Gatefall Company employee Bernard Krieser for 1 Stuiver.]   Escort Miners in the Mountains Northeast of Gatefall   Strange old woman who goes by Gamgam is joining us. Why? Is she going into the wilderness to die with dignity before infirmity takes her? She claims she is bored. I'll try to protect her but I make no guarantees as to her safety. What have I done to be saddled with these strange folk? A Fanatical Holy Woman who drags a Man around on a leash with... unclear purpose. An Elf who has inhabited an Orc's body if he is to be believed. A Mad Scribe who can kill with his bare hands. An arrogant Sihali Elven Wizard. Some of the others seem normal but I haven't really interacted with them yet. Lyudmila seems level headed, though it seems like her mind is always elsewhere thinking about things I cannot even comprehend. We met the miners. Eagrym antagonizes them, of course. We get wagons and go to the Logging Camp. We get wood to use to build the mining camp. The loggers accuse Gamgam of stealing coin from them with a magic spectral hand. We diffuse the situation. Somehow, this woman is more than she appears...   We left the logging camp. Found a Drojos Ivy plant in the forest. We were ambushed by skeleton archers riding skeleton horses. We killed or drove them away but lost one miner. Gamgam can apparently fight with a cane that's also a rapier. Perhaps her appearance is meant to lull her enemies into a false sense of security. We got to the limestone deposit and guarded the miners as they set up camp. We were attacked by Harpies. Lost another miner. The harpies spoke Latian. Lyudmila said they said the mountain was their territory. They warned us to leave. Some even used bows and had clothing. They're intelligent? We killed a few harpies and then fought this giant flying beast that is a cross between a bird, a wolf, and a deer. I've never heard of such a beast. It gored me in the stomach. Bastard. The harpies seemed to revere it. We managed to kill it and harvest its antlers. We watched the miners as they finished setting up the camp palisade and mining a shipment of limestone. We then returned to Gatefall.
