Report of Anya Lefkaris on the Survey of the North of Gatefall
We ventured forth from camp. There were three directions in the north of Gatefall: A river, plains, and the mountains to the north-northwest. We encountered this giant red frog-like being. After much debate we decided to call it a "Bloodlick" (at least I have) and said it was not a "Sliplick." It had these worm-like larvae in its claws. It slashed at us and was a difficult beast, but we slew it and harvested an organic ruby with the essence of Force on its head. Stigr, the man I met in Karstadt and went through the portal with, was impressive in combat... I was not...
We surveyed the river, licked our Wounds, and then elected to go to the mountains. On the way there we encountered two giant oxen. We found stone ruins in the mountains. They are called Anja's Folly. I don't know why everyone chose that name. It's not like I nearly died twice in those ruins or walked into an ambush. Not Latian architecture. Based on the inscriptions, the temple is a temple to Tiamat, the evil dragon goddess.
A plate of armor awakened. No man inside. Just the armor. It was incredibly difficult to kill. My spells couldn't breach the armor. Eagrym ran behind me and it pursued him, stabbing me in the chest and nearly killing me. Missed my heart by inches. The party destroyed it and got me back up. They then looted the pieces of armor and sword/shield. I'm surprised the Barbaric warrior of all people was the one to panic and use me as a shield.
Ruins had pentagon scratchings, similar to Obelisk. I think the ruins are 1000 to 1500 years old. Draconic written on the walls. "12 Fingers Zero Brains." I also saw a 5 pointed spiral, the symbol of the goddess Tiamat. The pentagon is the same symbol as on top of the obelisk.
I walked around further to scope the place out and wandered too far from the group. Rookie move. I clearly don't know what the fuck I'm doing. Was ambushed by these giant vulture-like creatures. They wounded me once again and I was rendered unconscious. I heard Ma'ago saved my life. Good man orc elf? person that one. The Party killed or drove off the vultures and looted 4 giant vulture feathers.
We found a highly poisonous plant called Twilight Wormwood. Eagrym tried to harvest it but destroyed the plant. We returned home heavily wounded. We think there is more to explore in the northern plains. I don't know if I'm cut out for all of this. But what else can I do? Maybe I need to rethink my spells and manifest my energy into new magics? That's how it works, right?
