Latian Empire
The Latian Empire was a Nation located in The Old World and inhabited predominantly by Humans. At its greatest extent, it held dominion over most of Latia Major as well as significant portions of Latia Minor. It was ruled by a hereditary Emperor, said to be divinely-ordained by Pholtus himself. Though scholars disagree as to the exact dates, the Empire is generally held to have lasted from the beginning of the Golden Age to the end of the Age of Invasion, a period of approximately 1,400 years. Ultimately, Latium was sacked by Barbarian tribes from what is now Eisen following a long period of decline and its Empire collapsed. Nonetheless, most modern Human Nations can trace their cultural heritage to imperial roots.
Exploration of The New World has revealed puzzling connections between the Latian Empire and the indigenous Archaean Empire. The Latian and Archaean Languages are highly similar and the two Empires seem to have had similar iconography, customs, and military equipment. The significance of this remains unknown, as the New World's existence is not alluded to in any known histories from the Imperial period.
