Fighter

Fighter is a Class available to players during Character Creation. Fighters are powerful and straightforward Combatants who combine raw strength and masterful technique to dominate the battlefield (see https://www.dndwiki.io/classes/fighter, but note the variant rule detailed below). This Class is best-suited to Races which are both physically adept and courageous enough to maintain discipline in the heat of battle, such as Human, Dragonborn, Dwarf, Halfling, Orc, or Half-Orc. There are five Fighter Archetypes: Musketeer, Champion, Banneret, Battle Master, and Eldritch Knight.

Fighters are subject to the following variant rule:
When a Fighter uses their Second Wind ability, the number of Hit Points they regain is dependent upon their Fighter Level as follows:
  • 1st-2nd Level: HP = 1d10 + Fighter Level
  • 3rd-6th Level: HP = 2d10 + Fighter Level
  • 7th-9th Level: HP = 3d10 + Fighter Level
  • 10th-14th Level: HP = 4d10 + Fighter Level
  • 15th-17th Level: HP = 5d10 + Fighter Level
  • 18th-20th Level: HP = 6d10 + Fighter Level

Perception

Purpose

Fighters are distinguished from other types of warriors by their training, professionalism, and iron discipline. They are a diverse group and make their living as soldiers, knights, mercenaries, and even bandits, but are united by their commitment to martial excellence. Nearly all militaries in the Old World employ Fighters among their elite ranks and they are commonly found in the service of other powerful organizations as well, such as trading companies and Religious institutions.

Social Status

Fighters command a degree of respect in most cultures and, in those with a particularly martial bent, can even be found in the highest strata of society. While some Fighters are unscrupulous thugs, sellswords, and criminals, others are generals, aristocrats, and warlords with significant political power. Common folk generally view Fighters with a combination of awe and fear, knowing that they are just as likely to be conquerors as protectors.

Demographics

Fighters are one of the most common Classes in the Old World and are present to some degree in every known Nation. They are particularly numerous in warlike societies with professional armies, such as Eisen, Khitai, Tymanther, and Ussura. Elite military units, such as Montaigne's royal Musketeers and Sarmion's winged hussars are frequently made up of Fighters, though they occasionally share the role of elite warrior with Barbarians, Paladins, and Rangers.

History

Fighters have existed since the beginning of organized warfare, but their true origins lie in the Age of Building, when the Nations of Latium, Maghar, and Syrneth formed the Old World's first standing militaries. Countless notable figures throughout history, heroes and villains alike, have been Fighters, including the founders of several modern Nations. The Age of Discovery's relative peace somewhat reduced the role of Fighters until the Eisen Civil War, during which many Nations began to build up their military might with renewed vigor.
