Eldritch Knight

Eldritch Knight is an Archetype of the Fighter Class available to players during Character Creation. It is the rarest type of Fighter in The Old World, as it encompasses mastery of both arms and arcane magic. Though Eldritch Knights receive only a fraction of a Wizard's magical training, they are extremely competent and versatile warriors, combining magic with more conventional Combat techniques to catch enemies off guard and undermine their defenses (see https://www.dndwiki.io/subclasses/eldritch-knight).

While there are many Archetypes which use both magic and weaponry, the Eldritch Knight is notable for its strong emphasis on the latter. Rather than relying primarily on their spells, as an Armorer or Bladesinger might, Eldritch Knights use them to supplement their mundane attacks and defenses and to counter unorthodox foes. Their magical repertoire is limited and tends to be highly specialized, but provides them with greater tactical versatility than most other Fighters.

Eldritch Knights are an evolution of the Elven Bladesinger tradition developed in ancient Syrneth. The famed Half-Elf slave soldiers known as "Khitarr" adapted Bladesinging techniques to their role as heavy infantry and continue to employ Eldritch Knights in the army of Khitai to this day. Although no other military fields them in significant numbers, Eldritch Knights can occasionally be found in other Nations with Elven influence, such as Alderac, Ifri, and Hellada, where they frequently make their living as gladiators, mercenaries, or bodyguards.

Eldritch Knights are subject to the following variant rule:
When an Eldritch Knight bonds a weapon to themselves using their "Weapon Bond" ability, attacks made with that weapon count as magical for the purpose of overcoming Resistance and Immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage for as long as it remains bonded to the Eldritch Knight.
