Princeship of Lamlou

Structure

The Princeship of Lamlou is divided into ten separate duchies, each ruled by a Duke. The central duchy, called the Prince's Duchy, contains the capital of Lamm and is the seat of the High Princes, who rules the nation with the consent and advice of the nine other Dukes.

History

In 3529 MA, the Princeship of Lamlou split away from Youk Kingdom after Lamlou Gilren was crowned by the Church of the Trinity in opposition to his elder sister, Lahrah Gilren. After a period of civil war, called the Youkan Civil War, the two were established as separate nations. Lamlou made his closest allies his Dukes in the west, but left the east mostly in the hands of the High Priest of the Church of the Trinity.   In 3679 MA, the Church of the Trinity crowned a boy named Youn III Youk as King of Prost Forest, taking the eastern half of the Princeship as their domain. High Prince negotiated a peaceful separation, setting the borders without undue bloodshed.

The Council of Lords is a collection of Dukes and Counts of the Princeship. It is tradition for them to meet at the end of each season to discuss and amend the laws the nation is to follow. The decisions of the Council are only legally binding if three fifths or more of the members are present and the High Prince is present. During the reign of High Prince Lahto Gilren, the law requiring the presence of the High Prince was removed, allowing for the High Prince to send a representative. High Prince Jaedyn Gilren has since reinstated that law.
