Knowing One Zyck Kriinae
Zyck has been a cleric of The Watcher in the Web ever since he dreamed of him in 3666. The watcher has granted him magical abilities in return for his worship. Zyck occasionally receives visions and prophesies, often in his sleep, but occasionally while he is awake.
Zyck lived in the city of Jakarak for a large portion of his life. When the Withering occurred, he fled southwards with his brethren and sailed with them to the Isle of Ash. For a long time he served as a priest of The Watcher. After the eruption of the Isle of Ash, the Elves there questioned their religious course. A witch-hunt for the followers of The Watcher began. Once again Zyck was forced to flee from his home. With his god's guidance, he boarded a ship mere minutes before he was captured and travelled to the nearby city of Mibran.
After spending several years In Mibran, Zyck received a vision from the Watcher of his daughter, Ellaera, fleeing into the West during the Withering. In his vision the Watcher told him: "Seek out the kin of your kin, so they might know my might." He set sail for Prost, but was not allowed to even set foot on the dock. He took another ship to The Princeship of Lamlou and spent over a decade searching high and low for any word or whisper of his daughter. He managed to find a few Raharin Elves hiding out in the wilderness, but not Ellaera . Satisfied that none of his kin were in the Princeship, Zyck trekked North to Youk Kingdom, only to find that increased tensions between the two nations had closed the border. He set sail from Bidao to Ziziphin, the capital of Jarsokka. From there he picked his way up the Ziz Peninsula and crossed the border into Youk Kingdom. He has reached Toyuk, with hopes that he'll be able to find his daughter within a decade. The Watcher in the Web may have other plans for him.
Shortly after his arrival in Toyuk, Zyck was summoned the Lord's manor and assisted in the destruction of a bound spirit. While he was there, he met the Lord's Arcanist, Miilmas Kriinae, whom he discovered was the grandson of his daughter. Miilmas told him the Ellaera Kriinae left 28 years ago to search for Zyck in the The Grand Kingdom of Midrasus. That night, Zyck received a vision from The Watcher in the Web.
"Greetings, Zyck of Kriinae. Abandon your mission. Follow these three; help them learn the secrets of their lives in your name, so that they might know my power. The dark eyes seek a tome in a cat's paw. Seek out the fathers of the fatherless, and I shall guide you closer to your own child. tell them of these things I have said. Tell them to look to the North star and see what waits for them in those lands."
In the morning, he told them of the vision he had had. They then returned to Toyuk and spoke with a man named Benadon Havnar who asked them to bring him to Shrask. Zyck knows that this will bring them Northwards and hopes that along the way he can both look for clues to help him find Ellaera and "help them learn the secrets of their lives".
On their second day of travel, they were attacked by a pair of devils who were seeking an item that Benadon had with him. Zyck fought with the larger of the two. When the fight was clearly against them, the devils let the sun turn their forms to ash and smoke, but not before one of them told Zyck, "We will meet again."
