Dalshar Clan
The Dalshar Clan of Colo is a confederation of related families and tribes untied under the leadership of the Ryuri of the Dalshar, Bran Dalshar. The territory of the Clan consists of roughly 4,900 square miles of coastline and several large islands of the The Eastern Sea. There are more than 35,000 people that belong to the Dalshar Clan. The Clan territory is governed from the ancient city of Sharhold located on the rocky coast of the Eastern Sea.
Demography and Population
The Dalshar Clan is entirely Human in its composition. There are some non-Humans living in and around Sharhold (Gnomes and Halflings), but these few souls do not consider themselves clan members. The Human population of the Dalshar Clan is slightly greater than 35,000 people, and the non-Human residents number less than 200.
Territories
The territory controlled by the Dalshar measures roughly 4,900 square miles of mainland and 500 square miles of offshore islands. These lands vary from rocky coastal cliffs along the sea to low mountain ranges and high headlands as one moves west/
Foreign Relations
The Dalshar have been in an open feud with the Benarden Clan to their west for nearly 20 years. Raids and attacks across the accepted borders of the two territories is now routine throughout the spring, summer and fall and ships of the two Clans will always attack the other whenever they encounter each other on river or sea. The Clan also has a rough relationship with the Clan Dolwyn to their south along the coast, but it is not one that sees much fighting or battles... yet.
Their closest allies are the Twynauk Clan located to their north. The Twynauk are every bit as dedicated to the advancement and continuation of the slave trade as the Dalshar.
Laws
The Dalshar Clan is well known for its active slave trade. Traditional Colian practice dictates that only criminals are sold into slavery, but there are many, many members of the Dalshar Clan that actively take prisoners from foreign merchant ships and sell then into slavery at great profits. They also have been known to frequently accept shipments of slaves from foreign lands and routinely sell slaves to foreign countries and far lands. It is typically understood that the slavers of the Dalshar buy and sell as many as 4.500 slaves in their slave markets every year, and nearly all of those are captured seamen and traders from far lands.
The Dalshar Clan has the seal for its symbol.
