Corvus
Count Ridley and Countess Lulu
While the Ravenswood family typically is a matriarchal family, Ridley and Lulu operate on equal footing and share ideas in order to govern Corvus more effectively. Ridley is intently focussed on securing the defenses of Corvus, always asserting that a threat could be around any corner and you can never let your guard down. Lulu spends most of her time working on diplomatic alliancees between Corvus and other neighboring cities as well as tending to relationships within her family to pass the time.
Purpose / Function
The original purpose of Corvus was to establish a settlement closer to the sea channel dividing Stoze and Westaria. As the Ravenswood family grew in both name and wealth they expanded the city and began using it as their main base of operations.
Architecture
The city seems to radiate out from a central point, with the furthest edges being made of wood and the center of the city having buildings made of beautifully carved stone. Gargoyles sit atop many of the inner structures within the city. Most of the buildings whether stone or wooden have a dark hue to them, this was an aesthetic choice made by the original members of the Ravenswood family when they established Corvus and has been upheld even to this day.
Defenses
As the city expanded and amassed more valuable resources it became a target for potential attacks. This called for increased defenses including sets of trenches around the city, watch towers along the perimeter, with patchwork walls surrounding it entirely on the north side. As time went on and Stoze expanded the border shifted and Mistwatch now became the better defensible position. The city guard now spends more time defending the lumberjacks on their route to and from the Withercorpse forest than the city itself. The walls and towers have become run-down over the years due to lack of use but still remain mostly functional.
History
The Withercorpse forest to the Northeast of Corvus is said to house all manner of horrors from forgotten times. Werewolves, Vampires, Nabbers and anything else that your imagination tries to hide from. Despite this fact, the dead wood within the forest was an extremely valuable resource and was harvested by skilled lumberjacks. They would bring lanterns within the Withercorpse forest to help light the way and deter any predators from ambushing them. Many lives were lost in this process but the industry moved on all the same. This became the main export for Corvus and furthered its expansion as well as the growth in power of the Ravenswood family.
