Brotherhood of the Silver Shields
As the Salvae Empire continued its expansion across the northern half of Kalbela during the last century of the Second Age, many bands of religious and civilian orders of knights, nobles, and soldiers of fortune came, went, and fell in their pursuits of conquest across some of the most perilous parts of the empire. The exception to the many fallen bands during The Southern Expansion were that of the Brotherhood of the Silver Shields.
Led by Lord Bastion Holt, a baron from a small town near the Song Maiden's Bay, he and his six bannermen of Houses Faalcone Family, Moss, Westman, Shaw, Ingram, and Harmon made their mark on the empire in little more than a decade by taking control of southern part of empire as it is known today from the southern-most Baltos Forest westward to the coasts and eastward, encompassing almost the entirety of the southwestern river of the Twins.
It was during their push southward through parts of the Baltos in 690 ATS that the Hill Dwarf, Cadlym Bolluln would aid the band of knights as he was hunting monstrous beasts that roamed the woods and become the seventh brother of the Silver Shields; he would slowly ease his way to becoming Holt's second-in-command by the end of The Southern Expansion in 703 ATS when Holt and his bannerman would informally separate to begin their lordships over the south, they would not gather again for almost two decades, where he, tragically, succumbed to his age and illness. It was here that Bolluln knew that the Brotherhood would begin to crack, he'd seen it a great many times in his near century of life.
Time would eventually see it happen again; over the next two decades the descendants of the original Silver Shields would bicker and squabble about every trivial matter. It would be the Twenty-First day of Summer's Tide in 758 ATS where Lord Declan Moss would declare war on House Faalcone; officially declaring the death of the Brotherhood and plunging the Southern Salvae Empire into a near three-decades long civil war.
