Blak Guard

Every member of the Blak Guard seeks to achieve perfection both from a martial, as well as an intellectual point of view. They spend their time practicing and learning to be the best they can possibly be.
The members of the Blak Guard are extremely loyal to the King, but more sodefend their lord and will throw themselves in harm’s way to protect their liege. On rare occasions however, they can kill the current ruler necessary

Equipment

Armor

Every Blak Guard is outfitted with magical armor that is produced by the best armor smiths in the realm and in their allies' lands. Every Blak Guard works together with the smiths to craft a set of armor perfectly tailored for their bodies and needs.

• As padding, every Blak Guard wears a set of masterfully created padded armor, capable of resisting most blades and arrows. This covers them from head to toe, serving as a second skin for them.
• Over their padded armor, they wear a mixture of chain and scale mail, with the chain protecting their joints with scale armor protecting the rest of them. Their head is also covered in chainmail, offering additional protection against glancing strikes.
• On top of the other layers, each Blak Guard wears a set of adamantine plate armor, tailored for their bodies which grants them almost complete coverage.
• Their helmets are fully closed, offering very limited visibility, but they are barely hindered by it at all.
• Similarly to Noble Guard Capitans, every Blak Guard carries a shield with them, which is mostly used to protect the Blakfort King, rather than themselves, but it serves that purpose as well.

Weapons

Whilst their armor is highly personalized, every Blak Guard learns to use the same set of weapons. Their primary weapon is a double bladed spear, with both ends being deadly. If their primary weapon somehow become inaccessible to them, they also use a longsword, which serves as an excellent backup weapon.

Miscellaneous

Because Blak Guard serve as guards for the majority of their service, they rarely need to carry additional equipment with themselves.

Duties

Members of the Blak Guard serve as literal guards for him and his court, but their functions far exceed that of a simple bodyguard. They are often friends and confidants of the Blakfort King and they are often tasked with missions of the utmost importance. Despite their menacing appearance and important role, Blak Guards are encouraged to read and write poetry and to take part in courtly activities such as feasts and dances.

Qualifications

Each year, a tournament is held in Austium, where members of the Blak Guard fight each other and any contender who wishes to become a member of the guard. If anyone who is not a Blak Guard defeats one of them in a duel, they are granted the defeated Blak Guard’s position in the group. A defeated Blak Guard is celebrated for their service and is expected to try again next year.
