Green Dragon

Green dragons are the third most powerful of the traditional chromatic dragons. Many feature a huge, flapping crest or fin that spans the length of the dragon's body. They have long, thin forked tongues and a chlorine-like odor. They are extremely skilled in the art of magic. Green dragons are often good parents, with both mother and father sticking close to their eggs during incubation. Females either store their eggs in an acid solution or bury them in rainwater-soaked leaves.    Due to their nearly black scales, the green wyrmling might be mistaken for a black. The wyrmling's scales fade in hue as it grows older. Typically, both parents remain within range of their young until they reach maturity.    A green dragon lair will be a maze of caverns and tunnels with a waterfall as a common primary entrance. Dragons love caverns perched high on a rock. Green and Black dragons' domains regularly overlap, but because green dragons are more powerful, they usually have the upper hand. Greens are willing to let a black dragon stay in their forest as long as the smaller dragon stays in the marshes. Green dragons like fighting and will frequently attack without warning. They are territorial, and any trespass into their area may be considered an insult to them.   They are clever and deceitful adversaries who like double-crossing those they encounter. A traveler may be able to pay a green dragon for safe passage, but the dragon may seem to comply and then attack the unwary offender once their guard is down. Green dragons are hostile, although they prefer to utilize magic before attacking physically.
