Evergrove

Capitol of Nivasa, Evergrove is the largest home of the Elves of Astagua. Though the city is undoubtedly beautiful, there is a growing divide between the Ilaen and Haki due to some massive differences in fundamental beliefs. Though the city isn't engaged in martial law or civil war, neither would come as a surprise if things don't improve.

Districts

Sythaeren Bazaar

The largest district and the one most commonly visited by outsiders, Sythaeren (pronounced sith-eye-err-en) Bazaar is bordered by cascading waterfalls and full of trading stalls. It is boisterous and crowded, but clean and full of life. Live music can be heard from just about any street corner and most of the civil unrest remains outside of this part of the city.

    Westgrove Cross

West of Sythaeren Bazaar is Westgrove Cross, a residential district comprised mostly of those families who can accept, or at the very least tolerate, the generational differences in beliefs. Much of that tolerance is based on economic dependence, though the district is not poor. Taverns, tanners, and tailors abound, but the artisans focused on enabling and protecting from violence don't have a place there.

    Living Tomb

Though considered a part of Evergrove proper, Living Tomb doesn't doesn't reside within its walls. Instead, hugging the western walls of the city are stretched rows of huts and houses built in and around resurrected trees. Frequently the houses will have a young-adult guardian, anywhere between 70 and 200 years old, and several younger Elves living together, all of them contributing to the costs of upkeep.   Named for the many trees that were once people dotting the streets, it is a constant reminder of the division between the Haki and Ilaen.   Living Tomb is detested by much of Evergrove, and even Nivasa as a whole, due to their prolific use in Floranecromancy. Still, there have been rumors of powerful politicians sneaking into the district to put the criminal magic to use. Plenty of their opponents would pay great sums of money for evidence linking them to the outlawed practice.

    Upper Westgrove

The residents of Upper Westgrove are, for the most part, Haki. Their animosity towards the Ilaen has both grown and been numbed by loss, sacrifice, or, as of late, religious fervor. Plenty of activities can be found in Upper Westgrove, particularly in the number of brothels and temples.   Upper Westgrove houses a secretive cult of worshipers with a steadily-growing following. Though perhaps detrimental to their cause, the group identifies neither its purpose or members publicly; rumor has it, they will come to you if they think you'd be a good fit.

    Latheholm

Despite being the second-largest district in the city, Latheholm is also the poorest. Be it Haki whose children emptied their coffers, Ilaen thrown out for their refusal to conform, or any number of failed business ventures, adventures-gone-wrong, or victims to crime, there are innumerable ways the Elves of Latheholm found themselves in the pit of the city.   Despite their shared struggles, or as a result of them, hostilities between the generations often run hottest here; after all, desperation motivates silent tongues. The overwhelming majority of Latheholm residents are not homeless, though none of them live alone.   The late Duke Hastios Valfir made efforts to improve the quality of life in Latheholm, having endured the generational divide himself. Despite his familiarity with the topic, any motions to change things were rarely adopted in full and as a result, the district still largely lives in squalor.

    Cyrann Valley

The richest of the Elves live in Cyrann Valley. It is well-protected, pristine, and full of established, aristocratic Elves who justify their actions in the Astagua-Vescania War and the decimation of the Evergrove Forest. Often considered close-minded, especially for Elves, the residents of Cyrann Valley spend a not-insignificant amount of time (and rumor has it, money) vying for ways to restore order and control to Evergrove.   Their use of outsiders is less impactful than they desire, but its fairly well known that they're always looking for hired-hands to persuade the younger generation into following the old ways, often with any means necessary.   There aren't any services in Cyrann Valley available to non-residents.
