Dragonrock

Dragon Rock is an asteroid port which lies close to the edge of the Tears of Selûne. Dragon Rock is an asteroid roughly 20 miles (32 kilometers) long and is owned by a group of 12 Boyars, descended from the original trading families that settled there. The upper surface of the asteroid is dedicated to trade, with hundreds of docks for spelljamming vessels of all sizes. The owners of Dragon Rock charge 1 silver piece per ton of cargo to trade in the port. Dragon Rock is the most active port of call in the Tears of Selûne.

Demographics

Inhabitants are predominately human, but elves, half-elves, dwarves, halflings, and gnomes also live here.

Government

The Knyaz rules over the council of Boyars which elects one of their number to the head position. The boyars are descended from the original merchant families that settled on Dragonrock. Knyaz Yakov Stolopin is the current Knyaz.

Defences

Dragonrock has a small navy, but relies on the IEN to provide a deterrent. The Streltsy perform functions as army and police force. The Rynda are the personal guards of the Boyars and the Kynaz.

Industry & Trade

Dragonrock is a popular port of call. It has a large number of craftsmen turning raw materials from Anadia, Toril, and Coliar. The main income of Dragonrock is docking fees and tariffs on trade goods.

Infrastructure

There are cobblestone streets and street lamps lighted by driftglobes in the more expensive parts of town and oil lamps in others.

Districts

Docks Ward:   The Docks Ward takes up the western most part of the rock. There are a number of houses but mostly taverns, shops, and shipwrights.   Golden Hills District:   Gnomes populate this district as they are descended from priests of Garl Glittergold who settled here centuries ago.   War Fields:   Mercenary companies and the military of Dragonrock. The Streltsy Barracks is here and there are regular drills in the parade grounds here.   Celestial District:   Mostly populated by the priests of the various temples, this distrit is the most peaceful in the city.   Elven district:   Elves live here as well as a contingent of the Imperial Elven Navy led by Captain Joralei Evenlight, the Commander of the Garrison. The IEN's First Fleet is headquartered here.

Guilds and Factions

As one of the largest ports of call in the Tears, factions all over Realmspace attempt to have a presence in Dragonrock.    The Seekers established a library here under the patronage of the Troubetzkoy family.  Sergei Fyodorovich Troubetzkoy is the current patron of the library. There are rumors that the Troubetzkoy is using the Seekers to further their influence through magic.    The Imperial Elven Navy has an entire district that enjoys a great deal of autonomy due to the presence of the 1st Fleet keeping Dragonrock safe. Anastasiya Georgievna Repnin is the current liaison to the 1st Fleet having married one of the senior Vice Admirals of the fleet.    The Chainmen are rumored to have a base here, but no one would admit it if there was.    The Sindiath Line is frequently putting in at Dragonrock and have good relations with Colonel Fyodor Vladislavovich Radomsky.

History

In or about the 10th century DR, traders from Toril took control of a spelljammer vessel that crash landed in the Silver Marches. Sailing it out into Wildspace, they encountered the Rock of Bral and learned more about spelljamming and the Tears of Selune. They discovered Dragonrock shortly afterwards and founded the town there. The families that settled Dragonrock were Belozersky, Repnin, Gorchakov, Galitzine, Troubetzkoy, Stolypin, Drubetzkoy, Gankin, Myshkin, Barashkov, Rogózhin, and Radómsky.

Points of interest

There is a bar called the Ocean's Wake near the temple of Torm that is supposedly the best and most hospitable. It is run by a reformed neogi named Brassons.
