The Crusaders of the Bells gather a formidable army to crush the Mothers. The war ends with the construction of a mighty prison tower, Gallowspire. Used to contain the daughters of Baba Yaga captured during the war.
The ruling houses of Lily and Frost wage war over the right to rule over the jointly controlled duchy. After a year of frigid warfare, the house of Lily emerges victorious, the house of Frost disbands shortly after, with many members going into exile.
The Witch Queen Morganna, oldest of the daughters, constructs a mighty weapon known as the Witchfire. In a single night, coordinated attacks by cults of the Witch Queen, criminal syndicates such as the Shades and loyalists to the witchcraft of the Queen, destroy the Crusaders of the Bell. Sir Darend Bellhammer, Sir William Korvach and Duchess Clairicia Val'ianie lead the forces of The Duchy of Foridia in battle against the necromancer lieutenant of Sereptra, the Great Betrayer. Paraxus is defeated, but at great cost. The army of the Duchy of Foridia was decimated. Nearly eight out of ten Foridians were killed in the brief battle.
