Squire Aranck of Mora'Tele
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Born in the Bullywug enclave of Mora'Tele, one of only a handful of free Bullywug settlements across the reef, Aranck was not free of the plights of his people. Still believed to be savages and emotionless Aranck watched as his people struggled through their lives to keep their independence and prove themselves better than what others believed. The enclave of Mora'Tele was not without any hope however and passed down through generations were tales of how they earned their freedom and kept it thanks to the valiant Tortle Knights who did not abide to the notions of racial hierarchy pushed by other members of the reef. One of these figures stood out most of all, Master Kanuna, the slayer of the Lady Sykvala and Hero of Kia'Tore.
Aranck wished nothing more than to become a knight himself and serve under Master Kanuna but there were no thoughts on where to find him. Most of his peers and family assumed it to be a pipe dream that would disappear as he grew up and even began challenging this strange certainty as he maintained it with his growing age. Eventually it was one of his great-uncles that capitulated and passed on a story that he had been told from their own great grandfather that Kanuna had left the reef after Kia'Tore in search of peace in a great island to the south.
Aranck did not wait a day before he gathered his possessions, meagre as they were, and began his great expedition to find Kanuna. Proving his training strong he fought off slavers and hid from monsters all as he went settlement to settlement ever further south in search of Kanuna. He took all manner of jobs apprenticing at times with smiths or gathering coral from the seabed all to fund his journey. Eventually he reached the shores of a land called 'Teremia' which was part of an impossibly sized island beyond his wildest dreams. He emerged to the land and found the people friendly if distrustful and went about earning his keep once more with tales of the land beyond. Slowly, with the trust of the native 'humans', he found word that there was a tortle in a place named Eivurn which Aranck made further haste towards facing ever further troubles on his journey.
As he reached the lands of Eivurn he moved to the capitol and requested audience with the count assuming such a great warrior would be in his service. He was instead taken to meet a nobleman named Lord Merkstein who interrogated the Bullywug over several days on all manner of details about his origin. Fearing he would be made captive to this man's curiosities Aranck fled when Merkstien left to eat and found rumours in a local tavern of Kanuna's location.
It was only a short journey then to the home of the tortle warrior who Aranck found to be all that he imagined. Though Kanuna had found peace in the town he agreed to take the Bullywug on as his squire and so Aranck began his pathway to becoming the first Bullywug Knight.
