Personal history

Born to a master carpenter in the county of Edmont Ojek had a promising future. Ojek's father travelled from town to town in Edmont and its surrounding states serving to construct and restore the various structures of the land giving guidance to the peasantry around it. Moving around he grew a natural awareness of the land and from his father began to learn how to lead men and navigate the structures of buildings including their hidden repositories.   The fortune of his youth changed greatly when the lowly Baron of Corchester refused his father payment for restoring his castle to glory. Having worked for several month his father was without coin and depended on payment for the job to survive. He pleaded with the Baron for payment eventually being denied so much as an audience, so the master carpenter turned to his people and denounced the Baron as a thief. Using this as an excuse the Baron ordered the arrest of the 'fraudster' leading to a violent skirmish that resulted in Ojek's parents being killed as he hid in a local tavern.   The tavern owner took pity on Ojek, grateful for the patronage of his father during his time working for the Baron, offered to take on the fourteen year old as his own. Ojek however was full of rage and using his knowledge of the castle snuck inside and set the castle's wooden floors ablaze. Near caught by the guards he fled to the woods where he lived for several months as a poacher until local brigands caught up with him and took him on to their own.   Initially Ojek was an outcast in the group often taking their ill gotten gains to local leper colonies and peasant towns urging the gang to attack only nobles on the roads and the corrupt clergy but this kindness didn't last forever. As he spent more time with his new 'brothers' their need for food and safety turned his nature sour. Peasants betraying their location, Lepers raising alarm at his approach all of it contributed to his descent towards a darker path until eventually he was the one ordering the attacks.   As his group began to grow larger the Baron grew increasingly fierce in their pursuit eventually forcing Ojek and his troops to flee north to Eivurn. Guiding as best he could Ojek moved his crew across various forests joining with other bandits for larger holds. After several close battles Ojek decided to turn lawful once more and joined his services to the Stonesnake Company of mercenaries.   These infiltrators specialized in sneaking into forts and castles before a battle and emerging to spread chaos within during the midst of an assault against a castle's walls. It was also here that Ojek began to find a new family among his peers and an understanding for his potential as a leader among the rank and file. For three years he served proudly among their ranks until a mission went wrong and the assaulting siege fell apart leaving the Stonesnake's trapped in the keep surrounded by a grand force. In an effort to buy time the captain of the company threatened to execute the innocents inside the castle including the young children of the lord unless the mercenaries were given leave to escape.    When leave was refused this threat was followed through horrifying Ojek and his peers who were called to take battle stations on light of the coming assault. Instead of this Ojek and several of his peers fled to the Dungeons shedding their armour and garb. When the owners of the castle recaptured it the 'prisoners' claimed to be poachers who had been left starved below the castle since it began. Seeing no reason to doubt the tale they were released forth and parted into two groups; those who wished to form a new mercenary company and those who sought a safer way of living.   Ojek was in the latter group and alongside one of his friends, a powerful Half-Orc named Borak Bragar, they established a bandit stronghold neaar a township named Borlun and began an extortion ring over the nearby townships.   This heist worked well for a time earning them a fine tribute until eventually Borak was murdered by a local from the Borlun township. Along with several others Ojek fled under the leadership of a lizardfolk named Lezhalitz. Establishing themsevles in a small fort that they rebuilt from the nearby lands, with Ojek's carpentry knowledge, the gang began to create a smaller form of Borak's scheme.   This lasted until Raz, Merric and Kanuna arrived to the group and slew Lezhalitz forcing Ojek to flee once more until their paths crossed at the ruins of Borlun.

Ojek tends to hold a pessimistic view of the world. His years with bandits has left him with a predatory view supporting the strong over the weak with little major care for the 'just' cause. His father's legacy remains deep within him however and where it is hidden from others he can often choose a kinder path.
