La Mech
New Benetos
La Mech is an ancient ruin that is, for the most part, buried in the sands of the Desert of Anbar, north of Yaren Juhl. The site is connected with the near mythical Benet society of early Human that founded much of the understand of Magic in the world. This has made La Mech highly sought after by adventuring parties, looking for the treasures of the ancient. While its relative location is known, at least by some, it is, as stated, usually buried in the sands of the desert. Adventurers will often come across maps 'leading' to its location, only dig for weeks to find nothing, and returning with less, if they return at all. Smart groups seeking La Mech wait for the great dust storms that occur over the desert on rare occasions. Sometimes these storms sweep enough stand off the ruined city for it to be found. Adventurers have a year or two to venture out looking before the desert swallows the city again. Rumors of glowing night skies in the desert and pulsing sands pointing to the location of the ruins should not be believed.
La Mech was founded, if legends are to be believed, as far back as the early Randeris Period, perhaps in 1150 pre-sc. Clay tablets claimed to be from the site give Benet creation myths. In them people were born under Elder Tree Borg, spreading in the Land of Five Lakes and founding their city of Benetos. After Gilgurth destroyed their lands and drown their city. After this the people traveled north and founded La Mech in a wide fertile valley. The Benetenpeople were the first to record Gilgurth as a meteor impact and not a giant Dragon buring the world away. Many of the buildings of La Mech, like Benetos before it, were rock hewn structures, carved from giant stones, some believed to have been carried from the mountains.
