Beneten

the People of Benet

The Beneten were a tribe of Valan people that broke away from their civilization in the Craddle Valley sometime in the early Randagri Period (estimated to be 2000 pre-sc). They headed west over the mountains coming to settle in a deep river basin surrounded by lakes. Ancient Benet texts give this land the moniker of 'Land of Five Lakes.' It is this tribe of Valan that would built the Benet civilization over the follow centuries. A people that lived between the Elf lands of Karasaanu and the Human lands of Craddle Valley.

The Gilgurth impact devastated the Beneten people. Though the initial destruction for the impact was absorbed by Elder Tree Borg, the flooding that followed crippled the Beneten. Their rock-hewn cities, including Benetos, were submerged in the flooding of the Land of Five Lakes from melting glaciers. The Feyite and Fairy of Borg prevented the humans from finding refuge in the tree's protective Mantle. With this, the survivors fled in every direction, seeking shelter in what caves they could find in the higher lands away from the flooding.

The surviving Beneten would go on and found the city of La Mech north of Yaren Juhl, and create the Benet civilization.
