Uosar (OH sar)

the City of Glass and Gold

The Dagmon city of Uosar sits on portion of rocky coastline on the western edge of the Desert of Anbar and is considered part of Tinjir by cartographers. For such a remote city, being the southernmost city of Cavean Union, Uosar's population is double that of any of the other Union cities. Nearly all the population living within the city walls in tightly packed streets of tall buildings.

A self-sustaining food supply for such a large population in a harsh climate has always been a struggle, with nearly half of all food imported from northern cities. Seafood is a staple of every meal in the city. This problem has increased in recent years with the rising threat from the Taba Orchold in the eastern mountains. The orcs raid into Cavea territories. Many of the farms able to be established in the desert around the city have been destroyed, taken over, or abandoned for the safety of the city's walls.

In the past the need for imported food has been little concern to the city as its wealth could easily balance such needs. As the city moniker implies Uosar is truly the city of 'Glass and Gold'. The lands and hills of the southern Areian Peaks are rich with gold deposits that Uosar has, for the most part, had complete control of since its founding. The sands of the Amber Wastes along the coast are ideal for glass making and Uosar glass is considered more durable than others glasses, and is highly sought worldwide. Uosar stained glass is found in nearly churches and temples across Ethae. Uosar was one of the few place seekers can find Dragon Glass, and Lightning Glass.

The orcs have pushed their territories south, controlling nearly all the mountains to the Amber Waste's edge. This has cut of much of the Uosar gold supplies. With their mines lost, they are relying on surface gold from ancient riverbeds and dried up lakes. Despite the entire Cavean Union rallying to fight the orc, the has been little gain to reclaim the gold mines. This has forced the once lavish city to focus more on maintaining their defenses and food that to through the extravagant city-wide parties that the city was once known for.

The city that was once a paradise retreat for the wealth of both Ethae and Dergonhad has seen a growing criminal network throughout the city. Factions fight each other for control. There is a fear among the city's merchant council that the victor of this street war will come to claim them with the dust settles. The council has a choice of sending Uosar forces to push out of orc invaders or stay near the city to protect the wealthy. Uosar leadership has decided to keep their city, and thus themselves, safe. This has left the rural Cavea to fend for themselves, which is only exasperating the problem of infighting.

Time will tell if Uosar can survive the growing crisis of orc, hunger and dwindling resources.
