Session 19: In The Palm Of Your Hand Report

General Summary

As the party explored the mystical gardens behind the cemetery, some took time to meditate and observe the monks. Slowly, they all approached the zen master sitting with a smile beneath the main shrine. The shrine stood atop a massive stone hand, a tree wrapped through its fingers like rings.
The monk proceeded to question them about their purpose and offered to give them a test. If they passed, they would receive their 'Void' Rings. The first step towards becoming fully-fledged samurai.
All except Seto accepted the challenge and spent the next while trying to answer the zen master's near nonsensical questions and koans. The only two heroes to pass the tests were Jerry and Mary, leaving the others feeling failed and dejected, trying hard to understand what they'd missed. With more understanding, they will have to try again.
After the test the party went their separate ways, Seto and Zhi retiring to the monastery for the night. Sakura, needing to vent her frustrations, returned with Mary to accept the duelist's challenge. Two close battles were fought, Mary proving her skill with her rifle and Sakura narrowly escaping defeat with a powerful fireball.
After earning the respect of the duelists, Sakura headed down the mountain after Aien as they began the trek back to the city. Mary headed for her factory, catching up with Jerry and Astrea as they followed Jerry's map to an old forge.
Arriving at the point marked on the map, the party discovered a door of dwarvish origin sealed in the side of the mountain. Several weighted pressure plates served as the key to opening the doors, a puzzle that the trio solved by giving steroids to their dog and being fortunately weighted themselves.
As the doors swung open to reveal an abandoned dwarvish structure our session ended. What will they find within?
