The Broken Coast

The hub of the east coast of Crescentia derives its name from how war torn the region has been during the Empire’s history. The shores have seen so much battle that at this point the only thing they could be is broken. Not only did this region see much fighting in the Eclipse War, but it was particularly ravaged in the 3rd war between the Empire and the Inquisition. It served as the gateway for Mythra Crescentia to bring in allies to fight for the free world, and it was the ideal place for the Oreion Inquisition to land their forces for invasion, demonstrating how history often repeats itself. The rocky, salt washed geography of the area serves as formidable terrain, coupled with the fact that the topography has literally shifted over the years due to the region serving as a no man’s land for much of its existence. Sinkholes and crumbling outcroppings make navigating the area particularly dangerous for those not prepared.   The town that serves as the hub of the region shares the same name, and the only thing more broken than the land itself are its people. Many hold resentment towards both the Empire and the Inquisition for the loss of their homes and family members. Still, the empire maintains a steady presence in the town, with the Legion's main training camp lying to the south and the threat of invasion always looming on the horizon. The people on the coast have a reputation for being the best fighters the empire produces, which logically comes with the territory. The town itself is built in a descending cove, with shattered hulls, torn sails and bones of sea creatures being used as the building materials for the architecture. Due to the fact that the town has been constantly rebuilt over the years, it only makes sense that the citizens use whatever they have in steady supply to reconstruct it. Much of the lower part of town is buoyant, as the tide comes in at the lower part of the cove, causing the buildings there to float and create a boardwalk of traders and businesses. Many of the buildings at the bottom of the cove have dual purposes, switching between when they are floating and when they are resting on the cove floor.   The economy of the Broken Coast depends on their fisheries, trade with the eastern countries.   Despite the empire maintaining a strong presence in the Broken Coast, the town is also rumored to be a haven for smugglers and other scallywags, with hidden alcoves and islands lying in the sea just off the coast.
