Imperia

Imperia, capital of the Crescent Empire , rests upon a man made island in the centre of Crescent Bay. The current city is built on top of the ruins of the older one, which has sunk below sea level over the years. The locals call the old Imperia “the sunken graveyard”, and many believe it is haunted by spirits of the departed.   When founding the empire, Mythra Crescentia wanted the beautiful capital to be the first thing people saw when arriving to her new nation. As the city itself is surrounded by water and a circle of jagged mountains, it is excellent at defending itself from invading forces. The stoic Crescent Watch patrols the city, coupled with the city’s famous wyvern riders.   Being situated in the center of a topographical bowl on the island, the capital is circular in nature and is divided into three tiered sections. The lower section known as the Crescent District contains most of the city’s residential areas for anyone not of nobility, as well as the general infrastructure used for jobs such as forges and fisheries. Even a city as pristine as Imperia has its dark side, and this can be found in the sewers beneath Imperia accessed via the crescent section. The poor, sick, and criminally inclined individuals of Imperia can be found here, as well as the headquarters of the Empire’s division of The Purse.   The middle section known as the Gibbous District contains the grand market square, the location of most of the shops, guilds, and recreational areas of the city. It is also where most of the major public events of the capital take place. A great golden statue of the founder of the empire, Mythra Crescentia , resides in the middle of the famous Garden of Heroes, along with stone statues of the other members of the Order of the Eclipse. The Gibbous District also contains the Inns of Imperia, the Imperial Arena, and the Imperial Cathedral. While the Arena draws in visitors who want to spectate grand fights between gladiators, the Cathedral houses many members of the church of creation, and is the center of religious prominence within the empire. The Cathedral also houses the Imperial Archives, and displays one of the Empire's most prized artifacts: Mythra Crescentia's Sabre and Shield.   The upper section known as the Full District contains the Imperial Palace, the Tri-Spire, a great three spire silver building where the royal family dwells and holds audience. The three spires represent the three facets of the monarchy; military, nobility, and law. High above the full section floats the wondrous Arcane University, suspended above the city by powerful arcane crystals. Individuals from all across the Empire and beyond come to the university to learn and hone their magical skills. A small mausoleum in the full district holds a teleportation room designed to take those who are deemed worthy to the university.   With the Battle of the New Dawn taking place within the city itself, Imperia has been left as a shell of its former self in present times. The derelict Dreadspire still resides in the center of the city, a looming reminder of Nex's return to the Mortal Realm, and the city itself is undergoing constant repairs that will take years still to complete. Additionally, many members of the populace have been displaced and are missing due to The Kindling.
