North America
The continent formerly known as North America became a devastated wasteland after the events of the Great Cataclysm. Its rolling hills and broad prairies became great seas and deserts of ash. Its towering mountains became burnt, blackened peaks plagued by pyroclastic flows and volcanic eruptions. Its forests burned to cinders or petrified into mysterious forests. Its rivers, streams, and lakes were choked with ash and soot, mostly becoming no more than fetid swamps of toxic gas and deadly creatures. However, some aquifers and buried reservoirs remained, hidden just below the surface or preserved in mountainous regions. These reservoirs of clean water became hotbeds for human conflict as warring tribes and gangs fought over the precious resource. Overall, the landscape of North America became a dangerous hellscape, dominated by the inhospitable region known as the Charnel Flats.
