The nations of Avalor are populated by people of many different races. All the races present in the Player's Handbook, as well as many of the other races of the D&D game, have a home in Avalor. However, some of those races have cultures that differ from those of their kin elsewhere in the multiverse. This section provides cultural information about the common races of Avalor, plus several subraces not found in the Player's Handbook. This is a comprehensive list of races, and includes a number of monstrous, extraplanar, or rare races that may or may not work in certain settings. For instance, hobogoblins and orcs are a civilized and widely-accepted race in most nations of the Sea of Riches, but in a more secluded region like Ryūshima, they would probably be deemed monsters and killed on sight. Be sure to check the ethnic make-up of the region your playing in the respective section of the Gazetteer and consult your DM about any character ideas.
