Current Month: Julwar 2nd: 209, The Fifth Age
New Akanvor is the young kingdom founded and inhabited by survivors of of the original Akanvor Dwarven Marche, which had been destroyed in a dragon attack.

Demographics

the population of new Akanvor is motly surviving dwarves from the previous Marche of Akanvor; both fled survivors, and enslaved prisoners. The population continues to grow as more refugees return to the city, adn many dwarves, gnomes, and halflings from other marches move to the city for new opportunities.

Government

New Akanvor is an absolute monarchy, with a retinue of senators that while small in number now, continue to grow as the population increases.

Defences

Being a refounding of an old dynasty, many of the returning soldiery have found themselves charged with the defense of the city, so that it may never fall sway to another foreign power again Currently, 500 dwarves serve as the city defense force, with over two dozen griffon riders.

Industry & Trade

Currently, New Akanvor focuses on exporting the remaining mined ore from before the cities fall, and using the funds for reconstruction. However there are plans for the continuation of mining operations including the exploitation of the Grimril vein.

Infrastructure

Though much of the marche had been ruined from the previous occupation, the dwarves of New Akanvor have begun to quickly repair and rebuild their former home, maintaining as much of the former architecture and layout as possible.

History

In the year 203, 5th Age, the dragon Ancalax the Younger came to Akanvor with the hopes of amassing the fortune of the Dwarves within, and claiming the valuable yield of Gromril they had discovered. The Dwarves were defeated, and survivors of the battles were either enslaved, killed, or fled into the surrounding dales.   During the reign of the Ancalax, the Pit Fiend Ishamael came to the ruined Marche, to challenge Ancalax's rule, and to reclaim a piece of the statue of his master, The Shattered God.   In Octwar 208, Thorgrim Steel-Bearer and a company of Dwarven refugees were discovered in the rural village of Foxstead by The Greater Restorers, whose efforts were focused on the Purge of the Necromancer.
After some conversation, the groups parted ways, and united once the Restorers had founded Lux Donum, at which time Thorgrim proposed The Reclaimation of Akanvor to the new barons.   The group accepted the challenge, journeyed to the remains of the Dwarven Kingdom, with Thorgrim, and ousted both the Dragonkin and Devilkin that now resided within. Both the dragon and the pit fiend were slain, and while many Wyrmlings were also killed, those that survived the rescue were cast out, allowed to live under the promise never to return. All discovered devilkin were slain, surviving slaves were rescued and healed, refugees were called home, and the halls were made a Dwarven kingdom anew.

We find ourselves in similar states of new growth and resource shortages, I find it interesting that the circumstances from which our new kingdoms were created are so different.

I am pleased, despite these hardships—your invaders slain, these halls filled with cheery Dwarves, your coronation, our new kingdom of Lux Donum, our strong alliance. This is the way things are supposed to be.

With eternal thanks and a strong alliance forged with the growing nation of the Greater Restorers, the Dwarves set upon the ardurous task of chiseling out a home for themselves, once again, among the ruins of rubble and slag.
